What Does Not Sell Well On eBay?
There are really very few
things that don't sell that well on eBay. Some people say that the
following items are "getting burnt out" but I disagree because if you buy
the items at the right price,
then it can be easy to make a profit.
If you can get 10,000 mixed Beanie babies for .40 each you can split them
up in different size lots of 50 to 500
(Example)
you can easily average 60% to 80% profit when you sell in quantity and the
money really adds up quicker because you are selling more items at one
time.
Danbury Mint -
some sell high see example -->
Franklin Mint -
some sell high see example -->
Sport Cards from 1980 - Present
Some toys from the
90's
General Items that could be found at Kmart / Target, etc.
The key to
making money on eBay is knowing your "Buy Price". That is where you
make your money. WHEN YOU BUY!
ALL products have a BUY PRICE ratio....
Here is mine:
The 1/4th rule
on items from $25
to $50
-
If it is a single item that will sell
for at least $25, I will pay not more then $6.25 for it.
Buy Price $6.25 to $12.50
Sell Price $25.00 to $50.00
The 1/3rd rule
on items from $51 to $100
-
If the item is selling on eBay for
between $50 and $100
I will try to pay 1/3 of the price.
Buy Price $17.00 to $33.00
Sell Price $51.00 to $100.00
The 1/2 rule
on items from $101 to $250
-
On items that sell in this price range
I normally try to pay 1/2 price for them AND I will not ever gamble on
an item that costs me more then $100 UNLESS I know what it will sell for
on eBay.
Buy Price $51.00 to $125.00
Sell Price $101.00 to $250.00

If I can teach you one main thing it
is this:
If you sell a $10 item you will
ALWAYS make LESS then $10 per sell.
(because of the cost of the items and fees to sell it)
BUT
If you sell a $200 item that you get
for 1/2 of the sell price then you are making a lot more profit PER
SELL.
I personally try to sell more items
that sell in the $250 to $500 range. And believe me... you can find
them.
Here are some of the most profitable
items that I have sold.
-
Bought a large older "Digital/Compaq
Storage Server" with over 1 terra bite of hard drives in it from a local
auction here in Kansas City
www.nationwideauction.com
for $68 (yes thats 68 dollars) I pulled the 8 racks of hard drives out
of it and posted them in 8 different auctions and they all sold for a
total of over $1000.00.
-
How about a Emulator that I bought at a
local auction for $15 that I sold on eBay for $500.
-
A Perfect set of Old Sango China that I
bought at a local auction for $40 and sold for $235.00.
-
A "LOT" of Postal Stamps at a local
auction that I bought for $5 PER BIG STACK and I sold 1 stamp for $550,
1 for $365, 1 for $255 and I have a whole bunch left that I added to my
collection ( I love stamps :-)
-
The list goes on but my point is that
if you are out there looking for REALLY GOOD DEALS on HIGH PROFIT items,
you WILL find them.
Over all my years on eBay I have come
across many strange items selling on eBay. I have seen Belly Button
Lint, a "REAL" New York Winter of 2002
Snowball,
an invisible "ball of air" with free "Air Shipping", and a
town in California to mention a few. I think the most famous ad I have
ever seen is the
"SIZE 12 WEDDING DRESS/GOWN NO RESERVE"
(Look at the hit counter on this one - OVER 17
MILLION hits)
Talk about getting a lot of people to see you ad on eBay!
I am sure if you will do a little
research you will be able to find some items that you can sell on eBay
so you can make a comfortable living working for yourself or just as a
little part time business.
I will be adding more information in
the next few months so check back often! I hope this information has
helped.
