Copy your travel
schedule for your family or friends.

Make copies of all
tickets and take them with you.

Make copies of
important items in wallets and leave with one of your children
or family in
case you loose you originals.

Check personal
medicines you might need for “out of date” items. Remember that where
you are going may not have what you need.

Get a hair cut.

Arrange for someone (friend or
family) to pick up your mail while you are gone.

Move emergency
money from savings to checking account if needed.

Mark
baggage with your name and use your business address if possible so
people can't easily see your home address so they can't break into
your home while you are gone.

Give emergency
phone numbers of your children, family or neighbors.

Unplug computers,
clocks, toaster, coffee pot, TV/VCR, and garage door opener
because all of the above might be gone when you get home.

Finish any
last-minute washing & ironing.

Mow your grass or
arrange mowing if needed while you are gone.

Clean out your
refrigerator – shut off ice maker if needed.

Lock all out
buildings & vehicles left outside.

Take out trash.

Water plants

Set furnace
thermostat at 55 degrees for heating or set thermostat at 78 degrees
for cooling or to a level that will save you money while you are gone.

Turn off main
water shut off valve into your home & drain pressure from the system
by opening a faucet. You could come home to a house full of water and
doing this will prevent it.

Turn water heater
to “pilot” position.

Turn
off phone recorder. and turn ringer off or down so they can not be
heard from outside your home.

Put cable or
satellite provider on vacation if needed.

Print
up a supply of business cards to give to persons you meet
and want to
maintain future contact.
